If there’s one thing I’m addicted to aside from coffee, it’s probably skincare. Like most people, I also get butterflies in my stomach when I purchase new skincare products. I’m getting older so I really need to step up my skincare routine game.
I actually tried several skincare products already— from local to international brands and from drugstore to high-end products. But, like most people, there were many times that I wasn’t able to consume the whole bottle of the products that I purchased, idk either I just don’t like the product itself or I just got lazy to do my skincare routine. There were very few products which I took seriously because they’re really good and one of those products is Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair (OMG, I really love this product). But because this serum is expensive, I looked for alternatives that offer the same effect.
In doing that, I relied on my Korean chingu (Korean word for friend), Althea. If you’re not familiar with Althea, it’s a website that offers the latest and best selection of Korean skin care and beauty products for a lower price (I mean, if you’ll compare it with existing retail stores in the country). The store directly ships products from Korea and I think the reason why the products are so cheap is because the SRP is almost the same with the SRP in Korea. What amazed me also is that the shipping is really fast; I received my items for more or less a week.
So without doing further intro, I’m excited to share with you Loves my Althea Korean skincare haul:
Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Ampoule
The Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Borabit Ampoule gained popularity for being the cheaper dupe for the Estée Lauder’s very popular Advanced Night Repair (ANR) Serum. According to articles I’ve seen online, like Estée Lauder’s ANR, the Missha Time Revolution Ampoule also uses bifida ferment lysate, a type of yeast that said to improve skin elasticity and help offset oxidative effects on skin. I’ve read as well that the Missha Time Revolution Ampoule in fact offers more anti-aging ingredients (e.g. niacinamide and retinol) but I guessed I’ll have to use the product longer to check if it’s as effective as the Estée Lauder’s but considering that it’s one of Missha’s best selling items, I’m sure I won’t be disappointed!
Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist
Another cult-favorite product from Missha is the Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist. The product was said to be upgraded to “intensive moist” and is now formulated with 90% fermented yeast extract from Himalayan purple barley to effectively plump skin, smoothen texture, and reduce pigmentation. It is also known as dupe for the famous, but very pricey, SK-II Treatment Essence. It also contains anti-aging ingredients such as Adenosine, Lactic Acid, and Niacinamide. To be honest, I really want to buy the SK-II Treatment Essence, but considering the price, I opted for a dupe with a large following.
Mediheal Vita Lightbeam Essential Mask EX
I became curious about Mediheal because it’s more expensive than the usual sheet masks. If I’m not mistaken, this mask costs more than a hundred in Watsons. Luckily, Althea offers the product for a cheaper price and much cheaper if I buy the masks in bulk. The Mediheal Vita Lightbeam Essential Mask EX contains Nano Vitamin C, Tocopheryl Acetate, and Gamma Oryzanol that have skin whitening effects. Instead of using cotton, the mask also uses cellulose which is said to help skin soak up enriched essence as it fits exactly to the curves of the face. Mediheal also advertises itself as the sheet mask leader which makes the product more credible I guessed (haha)?
Actually, I was really stressed recently because of work so I decided to take my skincare routine more seriously. I only have used the products for just more than two weeks now and even though I noticed that my skin was more hydrated, smoother, softer, and brighter after using the products (haha can you judge based on my pic above?), of course, I need to use the products longer to check if they’re really effective or not.
Well, I just want to share with you Loves my excitement when I got to buy and try these new skincare products! Hopefully, I can do a review post after I finished the bottles.
